ICTC_Mockup_2

Client

Following the work we’ve done for various public health programs, the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC) contacted us to create a trifold brochure marking ten years of progress towards the elimination of blinding trachoma. The ICTC supports the work of many local and international organizations to fight this disease, which is the world’s leading cause of preventable blindness.

Challenge

ICTC wanted to create a publication showcasing the progress made while emphasizing the need to continue working towards elimination. The client presented us with a huge amount of information and a quick turnaround. In the compact space of a trifold brochure, they wanted to include an explanation of trachoma, statistics, a timeline, photos, and a list acknowledging Coalition members.

Aha! Moment

We realized that the timeline was quite challenging and due to the large amount of content, multiple rounds of revisions could prevent them from printing the brochure in time for a major international conference. By allowing us to take the reins with editing the text, we could create digestible, visually engaging content that would include all of the components they wanted featured in the brochure.

  • Concept Development
  • Data Visualization
  • Infographics
  • Messaging
  • Writing and Editing
  • Public Health

Solution

After mocking up the overall layout for client approval, we dug into the design and layout. We blended graphic illustrations and photos with meaningful information to show the impact of trachoma treatment. By highlighting ICTC’s key initiatives, like setting the pace for elimination by 2020, we were able to streamline the content and establish visual interest that directed readers to the important information.

Impact

ICTC distributed the brochure at the World Health Organization’s GET2020 Alliance conference to educate people on their initiatives and showcase their ten years of progress as an organization. Today, ICTC continues their work towards elimination of blinding trachoma by 2020. Some countries, including Nepal, have recently announced elimination.
